Chief Strategy Officer, Global Medtech Practice
Angela Gillespie is the Chief Strategy Officer of W2O Group’s Global MedTech Practice, a cornerstone of the firm’s healthcare discipline. Angela started the agency’s MedTech Practice in 2007 and then rejoined the firm in early 2016 after a five-year hiatus where she worked in-house as a marketing executive at both leading large-cap and early-stage innovative medical device companies. In her role at W2O Group, Angela partners with the agency teams and its MedTech clients to develop business strategies and solutions that uniquely define our clients point-of-difference and market value proposition in order to accelerate market adoption and growth.
With 20-years of experience in this market, Angela’s work has spanned the communications spectrum and includes focused expertise in: creative brand strategy, market development, direct to consumer engagement, product lifecycle management and developing new and disruptive digital tools that drive measurable results. Angela has extensive experience across acute and chronic disease categories and has developed winning business solutions that uniquely drive market growth for the companies she has worked for and with. Core category experience includes: Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management, Peripheral and Venous Vascular, Oncology, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Orthopedics and Respiratory.
Prior to rejoining the W2O family, Angela served as the Vice President of Marketing for NeuWave Medical (acquired by J&J) and Senior Market Development Leader for Covidien’s Peripheral and Venous Vascular Business divisions (acquired by Medtronic). Angela has also held leadership positions at Boston Scientific, FischerHealth and Porter Novelli in addition to running her own MedTech consultancy.
Angela completed her Master’s degree in Communication Management with an emphasis in Strategic Marketing with the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California and received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication and Public Relations from the University of Alabama. A prolific public speaker, Angela also holds an individual collegiate National-Championship title for public speaking and debate.
Active in the MedTech market, Angela is a regular contributor to the MedTech industry dialogue and serves as a mentor to those seeking careers in this space. Angela is a past-President of the Healthcare Business Women’s Association in San Francisco and sits on the national organizing committee of MedTech Women. In her spare time, Angela enjoys spending lazy days in her vineyard in Argentina, using her Le Cordon Bleu master patisserie chef experience to make delectable desserts for family and friends and spending time with her husband, in their new home state of Minnesota, watching their two boys learn and grow.
