– Bechtel Corporation’s
Charlene Wheeless will serve as Host Committee Chair for The LAGRANT Foundation’s (TLF) 20th
Anniversary Scholarship and Donor Recognition Reception in San Francisco. W2O Group’s
founder and CEO and TLF board member, Jim Weiss, will serve as Co-Chair.
Both Wheeless and Weiss bring with them a wealth of experience and dedication to TLF’s mission. Wheeless, who is principal vice president of global corporate affairs for Bechtel, was named one of PRWeek’s 50 Most Influential PR Professionals for four consecutive years while Weiss ranks among the magazine’s 500 Most Important People in the Global PR Industry.
In 2016, Weiss also partnered with TLF Chairman and CEO Kim Hunter to form a paid health care fellowship that places ethnic minorities who are pursuing healthcare communications careers in W2O’s offices.“I am pleased to welcome both Charlene Wheeless and Jim Weiss to the host committee in San Francisco,” said Hunter. “Their combined expertise in the industry makes for exactly the sort of leadership we at TLF hope will be demonstrated for the 2018 scholarship recipients.”
This year TLF will go bicoastal to celebrate its 20th anniversary with receptions in both New York and San Francisco. Scholarships totaling $250,000 will be awarded to 100 ethnic minority students across the country who are pursuing careers in advertising, marketing and public relations.
The 2018 Scholarship and Donor Recognition Reception in San Francisco will take place on Monday, June 4 while its sister event will take place in New York on Monday, May 21.
